Silent Night was written in 1818 in Oberndorf, Austria, with words by priest Joseph Mohr and music by schoolteacher Franz Xaver Gruber, first performed to a simple guitar accompaniment. This is a jazz reworking of that timeless carol, trading candle-lit stillness for smooth, easy-swinging chords.
