Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer began as Robert L. May's 1939 Montgomery Ward story and was set to music in 1949 by songwriter Johnny Marks, becoming a Christmas favorite through Gene Autry's recording. This is the lyrics-free instrumental version of that beloved tune.
