Music

"Beat circle" draw eight dots in a circle and clap once for each dot while a leader points. Circle some of the dots, which could now be rests (silent beats). Start at different points in the circle to create different rhythm patterns.

Dance

What is a locomotor move? A movement in which the body travels across space (running, creeping, rolling).What is a non-locomotor move? A movement in which the body remains anchored to one spot by a body part (for example, bending, twisting, stretching). What kind of movements can you spot in the song?

Making pathways - students walk through the space making curved, straight, sudden turns and zigzag pathways as you call them. Freeze when the music stops.

Maths

Listen to the song - when the song counts back from 8 slowly sit down; when the song counts up to 8 slowly stand up.

Ask before and after numbers e.g. what comes before 8? 7 What comes after 4? 5

Read the song lyrics - ask children a variety of questions.

Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.
