Music

Singing can help children to move creatively and builds their confidence.

Listen to "Johnny Bear" and ask children to suggest ideas for actions to go with each verse.

Children then view the video song on YouTube and compare the actions with their own ideas.

Challenge - sing and dance along to the instrumental version.

Have turns at performing the song in front of the class. At the end of the performance the performer takes a bow and the audience claps!

Construct your teddy bear using materials e.g. card board roll, paper bag, glue, scissors, felt tip pens etc.

Drama

Act out a scene with you and your 'teddy bear. '

Print out the song PDF

Read the song lyrics - ask children a variety of questions.

Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.

Look at print and conventions (bold, italics).

Talk about interesting/challenging words and discuss what they mean.

Word study - phonic knowledge, compound words, rhyming word, contractions etc.
