Mary Had A Little Lamb

Music
Invite individual children to sing a solo verse from Mary had a Little Lamb in front of the class. At the end of their performance ask how they felt? If they would sing the song again would they do anything differently? The other children can acknowledge the performance by clapping. Encourage the performer to take a bow!

Dance
Explore the movements of a lamb and describe their moves e.g. frolicking; jumping; twitching. In your own "space bubble" dance the lamb movements.

Visual Art
Draw or paint a picture of a pet that "followed you to school!"

Literacy
Sing and read along to the YouTube song to achieve multi-sensory learning "Do it, see it and hear it!"
Print out the song PDF
Read the song lyrics - ask children a variety of questions.
Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.
Recognise and use a variety of punctuation when reading. " " ! ? . ,
Look at print and conventions (bold, italics).
Talk about interesting/challenging words and discuss what they mean.
Word study - phonic knowledge, compound words, rhyming word, contractions etc.
