Play to the beat of the numbers in the song. Children choose an instrument, found sound (tap desk or floor) or body percussion (clap hands) play your sound to the beat of the "numbers" in the Cool Sports song e.g. 4, 3, 2, 1 or 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Visual Art

Cut out pictures of people playing sport from magazines or draw your own. Make an individual or class collage.

Dance

What is a locomotor move? A movement in which the body travels across space (running, creeping, rolling).What is a non-locomotor move? A movement in which the body remains anchored to one spot by a body part (for example, bending, twisting, stretching). What kind of movements can you spot in the song?

Support your weight - teacher specifies what 2 body parts are allowed on the floor e.g. hand and foot. The students are challenged to support their weight. This activity can be done individually, in pairs or groups.

Listen to “Cool Sports” and ask children to suggest ideas for actions to go with each verse.

Children then view the video song on YouTube and compare the actions with their own ideas.
