Music

Intro: When you hear the numbers show your fingers to count along.

Listen to the song.

Ask children about the mood (the atmosphere or feelings associated with a piece of music or song) of the song. E.g. does the music make them feel sleepy or does the music make them feel like dancing? Why does the music make them feeling like dancing? Is the beat of the music fast or slow? (Tempo is the speed of the beat).

Ask children to suggest ideas for actions to go with each verse.

Children then view the video song and compare the actions with their own ideas.

Maths

Ask children to put their hands behind their back and say “show me six fingers?”

Dance

Explore different dance styles e.g. rock and roll, break dancing, disco

Play a rock and roll song, a break dancing song and a disco song and show children the moves associated with each dance.

Children dance each style of song.

Literacy

Sing and read along to the YouTube song to achieve multi-sensory learning “Do it, see it and hear it!”

Print out the song PDF

Read the song lyrics – ask children a variety of questions.

Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.

Recognise and use a variety of punctuation when reading. “ ” ! ? . ,

Look at print and conventions (bold, italics).

Talk about interesting/challenging words and discuss what they mean.

Word study – phonic knowledge, compound words, rhyming word, contractions etc.
