Music

Intro: When you hear the numbers show your fingers to count along.

Divide children into groups of 5. Each member of the band chooses an instrument (rhythm sticks, maracas etc.) body percussion sound (slap knees, click fingers, clap hands etc.) or use a found sound (tap the floor, plastic bottles with fillers like rice, small pebbles, lentils etc.)

Play the song and play along to the beat (a steady pulse) or the rhythm (short and long sounds that fit over an underlying beat).

Maths

Ask children to put their hands behind their back and say "show me five fingers?"

Dance

Explore the movements of a crab and build a dance vocabulary e.g. scuttling, clicking, snapping, scurrying, digging, and nipping etc.

Teacher beats a drum or claps hand, children show a crab move, when the teacher changes the tempo (the speed of the beat) children change their crab move.

Children need to be aware of their own 'space bubble.'

Literacy

Sing and read along to the YouTube song to achieve multi-sensory learning "Do it, see it and hear it!"

Print out the song PDF

Read the song lyrics - ask children a variety of questions.

Re-read the song lyrics and ask children to join in.

Recognise and use a variety of punctuation when reading. " " ! ? . ,

Look at print and conventions (bold, italics).

Talk about interesting/challenging words and discuss what they mean.

Word study - phonic knowledge, compound words, rhyming word, contractions etc.
